WHAT THEY ARE SAYING

Once and Again

by Ed Paige

Bright, cheerful, airy, clean. If all pre-owned furnishings shops resembled CACHET, pricier antique stores might never be in business.

This new downtown Fairfield spot resembles an upscale bazaar. Vases, furniture, screens, and even a melodeon beckon. The best part? While you can purchase floor-to-ceiling entertainment centers for, say, $1200.00 or South African prayer rugs, you can also make money selling your furniture and decorative items. Typically, the client gets 60 percent of the sale price, the shop keeps 40 percent. If you're ready for something new, why not? And Cachet picks up and delivers.

Items change hands rapidly, but CACHET has a steady supply of couches, eighteenth-century oils and wall hangings and mirrors. Through relationships with junior leagues and young presidents organizations, co-owners Real and Sheila Roy find high quality and attractive pieces. Living in Beacon Hill, Massachusetts; Jackson Hole, Wyoming and Manhattan has broadened and refined the owners' tastes. Lucky for shoppers who share that discerning eye.
