WHAT THEY ARE SAYING

A Solution for The Times

At a time when people are reevaluating portfolios and reshaping their goals, having that dream-home filled with the 'fine furnishings you have always wanted' has taken a new twist. CACHET, the upscale home furnishings consignment shop based in Fairfield, CT, is both creating and riding the economic wave as it sails through its first anniversary of its flagship store.

Beacon Hill Times

CACHET restricts itself to fine quality pieces --"items that are in tip top shape and ready to move into your home." Unconstrained by the antique store label, CACHET presents Biedermeir chairs, Drexel Heritage Queen Ann Dining Sets, an L.L.Bean daybed, 1950's kitsch, a Kindel table and 18th century oil paintings to name a few. All shown on the same floor. Known for well lit and easy to maneuver showrooms, CACHET often displays in mini vignettes for easier viewing.

Owners Real and Sheila Roy offer a new angle on the recycling and rebirth of fine furnishings. As a 30 veteran entrepreneur, and member of the distinguished Young Presidents Organization, Roy spent a career seeking out and buying struggling and unpolished companies. Recognizing their intrinsic value, he would refine and fine tune them, readying them for sale. “Furniture and fix-up has been my hobby and career, now it is my life through CACHET,” says Roy. “And there is great satisfaction in seeing a smiling customer hugging their treasure and heading home with it. Everyone wins. Consignor and customer too."

Where do these treasures come from? With more than 500 consignors from Beacon Hill, Park Avenue, Newport, Fairfield, Westport, Farmington and Greenwich who are downsizing, redecorating and just tired of holding on to pieces, it is a never-ending stream.

Previewing and evaluating quality and condition are essential steps in gathering suitable pieces. Dealers and homeowners on a sensitive budget have a field day with the vast selection and variety. This economy may be doubting and questioning itself but the fresh concept of a store like CACHET may just have uncovered some answers.
